About where you'll be staying

Set amidst lovely rolling countryside, the rural hamlet of Llangunllo is only seven miles from the market town of Knighton, which straddles the English/Welsh border. This is superb country for walking and cycling. Offa’s Dyke passes through Knighton and the Glyndwr’s Way National Trail passes through Llangunllo itself. The village has a railway station on the Heart of Wales line, which opens up the possibility of a car free trip to Shrewsbury or Llandrindod Wells perhaps or a walk back from Knighton or through the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Radnor Forest and the 84 mile long Radnor Ring Cycling Route are all close by, as is the lovely town of Presteigne with its famous gas-lit Judge’s Lodging museum and electric bike hire for those looking for a little help with the hills. A 40 minute drive will take you to the majestic Victorian dams and reservoirs at Elan Valley, or medieval Ludlow with its 13th century castle, ancient buildings, boutiques, antique shops and acclaimed restaurants and markets. There are some fabulous National Trust Properties in the vicinity such as Croft Castle, with its working walled garden and 1500 acres of parkland, or Berrington Hall boasting Capability Brown landscaped gardens and a Henry Holland villa, both of which are accessed via a scenic drive through the Black and White villages and cider country of Herefordshire. Alternatively enjoy a trip to Powis Castle, stopping off at Kerry Vale Vineyard? Enjoy watching red kites, fishing, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, rally driving, or one of the many day courses available in the thriving local crafts scene- blacksmithing, glass blowing, wood turning and many more- all available locally. A fabulous all year round location for exploring the beautiful countryside and attractions of Mid Wales, Shropshire and Herefordshire.
