The fellside village of Hesket Newmarket is located on the edge of the UNESCO National Park in the Northern Fells and has a well-stocked local shop, and its own cooperatively owned pub and brewery, The Old Crown Inn. Caldbeck is 2 miles to the west with village shops, pub and café. For the more energetic there is fell walking, cycling and pony trekking along the Skiddaw and Blencathra range. Ullswater and Keswick are both within a short drive away where a wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants await. The village is an ideal base for exploring Lakes Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite. Further afield you will find the natural beauty of the Solway coast, well-known for its links golf course and the market town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth are close by, whilst also within driving distance is the cathedral city of Carlisle, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.
