Scalby, a lovely village about 2.5 miles from Scarborough, is a popular coastal resort. With a tavern, two local shops, a quaint tea room, a hairdressers, and a beauty salon, the village centre, with its stone cottages and Victorian houses, offers adequate services. It makes the ideal site to stay, surrounded by rolling hills and lovely countryside, with thousands of hectares of moors and forest, several public pathways, and the well-known Scalby Beck, which weaves its way to the ocean. Local produce is sold in a weekly farmers market hosted in the grounds of St. Lawrence’s Church Rooms. Scalby is a delightful hideaway after a busy day out, with Scarborough’s superb, sandy beaches, good restaurants, and vibrant town centre right on the doorstep!
