The charming Angel pub and The Corners Inn, both providing hearty pub meals and local ales, are two excellent pubs in the historic village of Kingsland. They’re great for nights when you don’t feel like cooking! – As well as a local store, Kingsland has a post office. The Riverside at Aymestrey, which was named “Herefordshire’s Best Restaurant” in 2021 and “Best Sustainable Pub” in 2022 by the Great British Pub Awards, is yet another fantastic eating establishment. There are lots of enjoyable, group- and family-friendly activities nearby, including a high wire course, paintball, quad biking, and raft building, all of which are offered at the neighbourhood Oaker Wood activity centre. The prestigious National Trust sites of Croft Castle, a castellated 17th-century manor house where you can tour both the interior and grounds, and Berrington Hall, a stunning neoclassical 18th-century mansion designed by Henry Holland, are both within a short drive. Both of these sites feature serpentine pools and serve as Capability Brown’s final complete estate. The Judge’s Lodgings at Presteigne, Stokesay Castle, the prestigious Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, and the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm are also worthwhile side trips.
