Sleights is situated just four miles from the Yorkshire coastline, it is also on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors, littered with villages and scenery. It is very popular with walkers and cyclists. Though quiet, Sleights has a pub, a fish and chip shop, an antique shop, a cafe and a Post Office within a Spar shop. The North Yorkshire Steam Railway is a few minutes’ drive, while the town of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally positioned to explore Yorkshire. A town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a harbour, safe sandy beaches and, of course, the abbey, reached by 199 steps.
