Cartmel in South Lakeland is a lovely holiday location with streamside footpaths, antique shops, classic pubs, a priory, and a racetrack. Grange-over-Sands, a beach resort with attractive gardens, golf courses, and birding chances, is nearby and is well worth visiting. The little village of Allithwaite is close by, and tourists may pause for a pint at The Pheasant Inn before setting off on a climb to Kirkhead Tower’s ancient remains.
