Pickering is an ancient market town and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. Boasting a variety of historical landmarks, including the famous Pickering Parish Church, featuring famous medieval paintings, Pickering Castle and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The town offers a selection of pubs, restaurants, shops and supermarkets for fine food and local produce. The town dates back to around 270 BC, and was founded by King Peredurus, though its architecture dates much later to the medieval era.
