Loftus is a small town on the east coast of Yorkshire, 14 miles north of Whitby. Terraced buildings, historic stone cottages, and a few stately stone dwellings make up the original alum mining community. The town’s spectacular town hall is at the end of a long, bustling main street lined with stores, restaurants, bars, and banks. Just off the main drag, you’ll find a fantastic swimming pool in a recreation centre. Loftus is conveniently located between the picturesque fishing towns of Runswick Bay and Staithes, the latter of which is a favourite among painters. The posh resort town of Saltburn can be found just four miles to the north, and it features a golf course and a long pier that stretches out over the beach. The beautiful countryside of the North Yorkshire Moors is right outside your door, and the Jurassic fossil coast can be found just south of you.
