Nestled in a peaceful valley of the Pennine Hills is the charming village of Lothersdale, just five miles from the market town of Skipton. At one time, this lovely little town was home to the famous writer, Charlotte Bronte, who went on to base Gateshead Hall from her novel ‘Jane Eyre’ on Stone Gappe House where she was governess. Many of the visitors today come to the village for its excellent walking routes as it is situated along the Pennine Way – on the stretch from Cowling to Gargrave. The village pub is well worth visiting and serves food whilst the nearby town of Skipton provides an excellent range of amenities. Just a short drive away is the town of Haworth, the Bronte’s home and the famous Worth Valley Steam Railway.
