Scalby, a lovely village about 2.5 miles from Scarborough, is a popular coastal resort. With a tavern, two local shops, a quaint tea room, a hairdressers, and a beauty salon, the village core, with its stone cottages and Victorian houses, offers adequate facilities. It makes the ideal site to stay, surrounded by rolling hills and lovely countryside, with thousands of hectares of moors and forest, several public pathways, and the well-known Scalby Beck, which weaves its way to the ocean. Local produce is sold in a weekly farmers market hosted in the grounds of St. Lawrence’s Church Rooms.
