Birkenhead is a busy town on the Mersey River, just north of Liverpool. The Birkenhead Priory and St. Mary’s Tower is the oldest building in Merseyside, and the town also features the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum, the Wirral Golf Club, Birkenhead Park, the Wirral Transport Museum & Heritage Tramway, and the Woodside Drive-in Cinema and diner. The supermarkets and convenience stores will stock your pantry, while restaurants like Ristorante Roma, Armadillo Restaurant, Riviera Flame and grill, and Liverno will satisfy your hunger. Keep going to Liverpool, where you can enjoy a stroll along the Royal Albert Dock, art at the Tate, The Beatles Museum, a live performance at the Everyman Theatre, a picnic in the Princess Park, and Michelin-starred cuisine at any of the city’s five restaurants. Chester is further away and has many attractions, including the Chester Zoo, the Roman Walls, the Cathedral, the Chester Races (held every year from May to September), and river cruises along the Dee.
