Ulverston is a festival town, with flags, walking, art, and music festivals in the summer and the Dickensian Christmas festival in late November. It is the birthplace of Stan Laurel and the world record holder for the greatest foam pie battle in the world. A picturesque village with views of the southern Lake District and Morecambe Bay. Deepest, widest, and shortest canal makes for a great afternoon walk with a pub and bay views. All National Park attractions are accessible. Furness Coast has sandy beaches and birding. Visit the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, the Lakes Windermere and Coniston, and the famed Birkrigg Common, with its spectacular views across Morecambe Bay.
