To the north of Llangollen, accessible by the beautiful Horseshoe Pass, is the mountain town of Ruthin. St. Peter’s Square is the focal point of the town’s historic district, which is characterised by its magnificent half-timbered buildings. In addition to its numerous unique stores and buildings, Ruthin is home to the historic Ruthin Gaol and the Ruthin Craft Centre, which features the work of regionally and globally renowned artists and craftspeople. Lake Brenig, Moel Famau Country Park, and Clocaenog Forest are all within a short distance of Ruthin and offer stunning natural scenery. Although they are further away, the seaside, Snowdonia National Park, and old Chester are all all within reasonable day trip distances.
