The busy, coastal town of Marske-by-the-Sea has many shops, pubs and restaurants. One of the main attractions in the town is the excellent long sandy beach and sand dunes. Near to Marske-by-the-Sea is Captain’s Cook birthplace, the mining museum and Zetland lifeboat museum. Just three miles away is the old spa town of Saltburn with many attractions such as the Smugglers Heritage Centre, the Cliff Lift and and pier which is the most northerly surviving pier in Britain. The town also has many pubs and restaurants. For walkers, there is the stunning North York Moors National Park. Also worth a visit are the lovely fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay as well as the seaside town of Whitby. Marske-by-the-Sea is a fantastic base with many villages, towns and attractions within the area.
