Resting on the edge of the breath-taking North York Moors National Park, is the small village of West Ayton. Visitors of the village will be charmed by the 14th-century castle, situated to the east of the village, along with a community centre, a surgery, a pub and a number of local businesses. Its twin village, East Ayton perches on the opposite side of the River Derwent, where you will find a larger selection of amenities. Situated on the edge of the National Park, this little village plays host to miles of walks to be enjoyed. Noteworthy routes include The Bridestones and the Hole of Horcum, Forge Valley and the Derwent Sea Cut. Alternatively, a 15-minute drive will find you within the resort town of Scarborough, complete with a brimming town centre, a beach and harbour. Attractions include the Japanese-style garden, Peasholm Park, the medieval Scarborough castle and the wonderful SEA LIFE Sanctuary. West Ayton promises an idyllic base for touring the countryside and coast.
