Over 24 acres of clifftop nature reserve, situated between Highcliffe Castle and Friars Cliff close to the Dorset and Hampshire border on the edge of the New Forest, near the historic waterside town of Christchurch. The reserve was formerly part of the Highcliffe Castle estate, and was named after a steamer boat which was present on the site in the 1800’s. Designated a nature reserve in 2005, the area preserves the natural woodland of oak and hazel, providing habitats for many species of flora, animal and birdlife, offering peaceful trails through the trees. The cliffs are located above a pleasant shingle and sandy beach, an ideal spot for families to enjoy all kinds of watersports, with wonderful views of the Isle of Wight and Christchurch Bay. The nearby ancient town of Christchurch is just a short drive, where you can enjoy the beautiful priory, stroll along the quayside, take a ferry up
the River Stour or enjoy a meal at one of the numerous friendly restaurants. Alternatively take a picnic to the nearby
New Forest National Park and delight in the wild ponies, or visit the National Motor Museum, also all the attractions
and events of Bournemouth are easily reached as well as the popular Moors Valley Country Park. Failing that just relax on the nearby beach and soak up the sun whilst enjoying an ice cream!
