The ancient community of Norham is most known for Turner’s 1845 painting of the magnificent Norman Castle remains above the River Tweed. The village includes a good butcher and bakery, a Post Office, a grocer, a newsagent, and two pubs, one of which has an award-winning restaurant. There are also two fine restaurants in Allanton that are ideal for fishing and shooting groups, as well as the Cross Inn in Paxton.
