Between Clacton-on-Sea and the marshes and dunes of Colne Point, in Essex’s Tendring district, is the coastal community of Jaywick. It was constructed as a vacation resort with chalets for residents of London’s East End in the 1930s, and today it is home to year-round residents as well as numerous tourists who come to enjoy the jade-colored beaches of Jaywick Sands. A great day out can be had at the Naze Tower Café and the Fingringhoe Wick Nature Discovery Park, which are both located further away. Nearby Clacton-on-Sea offers a number of attractions, including a second sandy beach right next to Martello Bay, watersports opportunities, and a number of dining options.
