Located in the Yorkshire Dales, just outside the historic market town of Skipton, Micklethorn is a stunning period detached property, sleeping up to ten guests. Exuding character and charm, and set adjacent to the majestic Broughton Hall, guests have the opportunity to discover scenic walks and wild swimming, while reconnecting with nature and each other.
Steps down to the rear of the house enter into the delightful farmhouse kitchen and dining area. Here, the whole family can enjoy a meal together whilst planning the activities for the day ahead. Should relaxation be the order of the day, two sitting rooms, a children’s playroom, and a further study area provide the ideal opportunity for each guest to enjoy peace and quiet during their much needed escape to the country.
Ascend up the two separate staircases to discover six individually designed bedrooms. Comfort and a good night’s sleep await guests after a day exploring the area. The single bedrooms make the perfect hideaway that any child will love. And, as an added bonus, the children’s playroom in the basement provides a space for getting creative with arts and crafts using the supplies provided.
Outside, a large expanse of lawn surrounds the front of the house, stretching all the way down to the road.
Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain’s “best place to live” and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!
