Mary Tavy gets its name from the 13th-century St. Mary’s chapel and the surrounding River Tavy. It’s located in the Dartmoor National Park, near Tavistock. The community once housed the world’s largest copper mine, Wheal Friendship, as well as lead and tin mines. The community has a Post Office and a tavern, The Mary Tavy Inn, where you may have a meal and a pint. Take a stroll along the gorgeous shoreline, or explore the National Park. The National Cycle Route 27, Drakes Trail, and the West Devon Way to Plymouth are all easily accessible.
