Ironbridge Gorge is famous around the world for being the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. The area is no longer industrial, and nature has reclaimed the majority of the previous industrial sites, creating a unique and picturesque wooded valley. The gorge is now a network of trails, bridleways, and rural lanes, and the charming settlement is notable for housing the world’s first iron-made bridge, built between 1777 and 1779. The community boasts a wonderful selection of pubs, restaurants, shops, and tea rooms, and the Ironbridge Museums Trust is made up of ten industrial and Victorian themed museums, including the thrilling Blists Hill Victorian community.
