Shawbury, located roughly in the middle of Shropshire between Shrewsbury and Market Drayton, is a prosperous community. The town of Shawbury is well-supplied with a variety of businesses, such as a butcher, bakery, supermarket, bars, and even a church. Shrewsbury, the county town, is located inside the Severn loop and is rich in history and mediaeval architecture (it has over 600 listed structures). Take a stroll through the historic streets and squares paved with cobblestones, or attend one of the many annual celebrations. There are plenty of restaurants, taverns, and pubs in addition to a wide variety of both specialty stores and chain stores in the city. In addition to being Charles Darwin’s birthplace, Shrewsbury is home to some notable landmarks, including the 1083-founded Abbey, Shrewsbury Castle, and the Quarry Park, site of the annual Shrewsbury Flower Show. Wroxeter Roman City, the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, and the museums therein are all within driving distance of Attingham Park, an opulent 18th-century mansion owned by the National Trust.
