Weymouth and Portland are connected by the Chesil Beach in a short trip. It is only 7 miles away from Dorchester, the setting for Thomas Hardy’s “Casterbridge,” so why not take a picturesque coastal route and stop at Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical Gardens?
Alternatively, head to West Bay, where you’ll be able to take in the spectacular vistas of the Dorset Heritage Coastline.
