Dunvegan is a small community in Skye’s northwestern corner, with a mix of old stone and modern buildings, as well as a few stores and hotels. Dunvegan Castle, about a mile from the hamlet, is home to the Clan MacLeod, who have lived there since the 13th century. The legendary Three Chimneys Restaurant, a must-see for all foodies, is only four miles away, and the highly popular Old School Restaurant, a ten-minute walk away, is well worth a visit. The Cullin Mountains, with their spectacular rock formations and pinnacles, are also nearby, and many climbers would put them at the top of their list. Other attractions on the Isle include the Talisker Distillery and Portree, the island’s only town, which is built around its natural port and offers a wide selection of shops, hotels, and restaurants, as well as popular Sea Eagle tours from the pier.
