You’ll find yourself surrounded by imposing 17th and 18th century mansions in the conservation village of Winster, located in the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park. Ginnels connect the three main streets of Main, East Bank, and West Bank, and they’re well worth exploring. Winster’s Morris dancers, Shrove Tuesday pancake races, Wakes celebrations in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July are all well-known in the village. A community-owned general store with a Post Office is located in the village. Traditional beer and food can be found in two local establishments. Nearby attractions include Bakewell, Matlock and Chatsworth House, as well as Peak Rail Steam Railway. The Limestone Way also runs along the village’s edge. Nearby are the Tissington and High Peaks walking and cycling trails, where you can rent bikes to explore the surrounding Peak District.
