Just off the coast of Essex, nestled in the Thames Estuary is the low-lying island of Canvey Island, home to the beautiful Thorney Bay Beach which provides impressive views across to the Kent coast, the Canvey Island Heritage Centre and Museum and a fantastic selection of shops, pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes. Transport enthusiasts can pay a visit to the Canvey Island Transport Museum which looks back at vehicles from times gone by and has its very own functioning model railway layout. Kids and big kids can enjoy a water-filled day at Stay and Splash at the Paddocks Community Centre, with its lido, climbing frame and on-site restaurant. Not to be missed is the Leisure Island Fun Park located near to the Canvey Seafront, which boats a variety of fairground rides, go karts and trampolines, promising a host of fun for all the family.
