Barrow upon Soar is a picturesque village in northern Leicestershire, nestled between Leicester and Loughborough in the Soar Valley. There are a few shops, pubs, and cafés in the village, as well as a train station with connections to the Midland Main Line and the Ivanhoe Line. Barrow upon Soar is recognised for its fine limestone and pleasant setting along the River Soar, while the surrounding districts offer many additional scenic spots for guests as well as convenient access to Leicester and Coventry. Loughborough, which is less than five miles from the village, is noted for its university campus, the Charnwood Museum, and the picturesque Queen’s Park, as well as other facilities including the UK’s only main line historic railway, the Great Central Railway. The Beacon Hill Country Park, just a few miles west of the hamlet, provides a magnificent space amongst nature, excellent for adults and children alike, for hikes and bicycle pathways.
