The lovely High Peaks village of Edale is the start of the Pennine way and lies at the foot of Kinder Scout. It has two pubs, and one of them, The Nags Head, is usually accepted as the start of The Pennine Way walk. With credentials like these it’s little wonder that the area attracts so many walkers, and they won’t be disappointed. The village has a general store combined with a post office and a Moorland Visitor Centre. Castleton is only four miles away and is a village that has something for everyone, a ruined Norman Castle, Blue John caves and all under the auspicious gaze of Mam Tor, “The Shivering Mountain.” All in all the charming village of Edale is a fabulous holiday location.
