  3. Looking for the correct collective noun for a group of Kookaburras.
Some local suggestions are, “Riot”, and “Family”! Need confirmation of this

Wikipedia does not give a definition of this, but cites that Kookaburras are in the same species as the Kingfisher birds, but they are different birds. Advice would be appreciated!

      1. Hi Tom, just wondering if you coined the term anger for blue tits or where you heard it. It seems very appropriate to me as a bird ringer!

    1. I too would like to know. Daily we have a “swarm” or “fuss” of assorted tits arriving on nearly low level trees /bushes in the garden. There will be blue tits, great tits, with a few coal tits and the occasional long tailed tit. They may stay half an hour of more, attracted by the two peanut feeders suspended from the shed. Each bird of the twenty or so in the “flock” feed and leave, maybe to return later.
They all share the same characteristic of Twitchiness, but what do you call the collective condition?
I see a bosom of blue tits suggested. This suggests contentment, but my visitors are anything but. A “fuss” might be appropriate.

  4. Redwings? Would this be the same as ‘Thrushes’ as they are of the thrush family and there are different thrushes i.e mistle and song, and there isn’t one listed for blackbirds? Thanks.
