Dronfield is a Derbyshire market town with a history dating back to before the 1086 Domesday Book, and has a number of 12th-century buildings which are still in existence. The town has a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants and also a sports centre, and is surrounded by wonderful Peak District countryside where the walks are asking to be explored. Dronfield is situated between the Peak District National Park and the city of Sheffield while close by is the historic town of Chesterfield which is most notable for its famous crooked spire of St Mary and All Saints Church. The impressive Damflask, Agden, Dale Dike and Ladybower dams make for an interesting afternoon’s ramble, while the attractive village of Hathersage (thought to be the inspiration for Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre) is also within easy reach and is home to a selection of shops, pubs and inviting eateries, plus an outdoor lido. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall, whilst the historic and ever popular town of Bakewell and the rest of the Peak District, are within a short drive.
