The former quarry and lead mining village of Middleton is set on a prominent hillside above the nearby towns of Wirksworth and Cromford, just eight miles from the popular destination of Matlock. The surrounding countryside offers wonderful walking and cycling routes throughout the region, with the disused High Peak Railway line close by recently converted into a path known as the High Peak Cycle Trail. The nearby town of Matlock provides a good range of shops and pubs, whilst the many National Trust properties and museums throughout the area are not to be missed.
